On time, aging, memory, and creative rhythm

What’s on your Second Screen?

Because it’s usually more important than what’s on the big screen…

I’m still learning to stay organized

Part of my journey as a person who writes not just for myself but for others while taking care of myself and loved ones is to remember my priorities. I apologize for not making this newsletter a priority.

  • This newsletter was due on the 15th for the month, but I’ve been missing the deadline.

  • I also forgot to renew my driver’s license. But in doing so I realized that it’s possible to have an online version of my license. If you’re like me and likely to forget to bring your license or worry that you will lose it, this might be a helpful back up card for your needs.

  • Another thing I did badly this year was learning to set up my automatic payments, and therefore paid fees, both late fees and insufficient funds for missing two months. In fact, I might have a collections group after me; but I’m not sure because they all look phishy these days.

Finally I’ll mention that this outline was created from ChatGPT
because it helps me with staying focused to have a digital assistant.

Like Thought, Time Is Not a Straight Line

I’m aging, and while that gives me more experience to write with, here are a few other things that get in the way of getting things done.

  • Aging parents change your calendar.

  • Technology moves fast; humans could but usually with aches and pains to complement that movement.

  • Memoir writing slows everything down.

  • My pace slows down when there are new things to learn, which these days seems to be more often than necessary.

In fact, my life previously with a local community mental health center and a regular check was blessed for multiple reasons, the least and yet still difficult to understand for me was for making my taxes a little bit easier.

  • I still work with therapists and mental health communities but as an independent contractor, I find myself with more to do just to make sure my clients are supported while making sure my work is reciprocated in some way.

  • This platform (as a newsletter) doesn’t usually remind me to write something, but I can set something up in my digital calendar to schedule reminders for me in my emails... I’m hoping that will start to keep me on schedule for next month.
